Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to join Manchester City next summer

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is set to join Manchester City next summer on a £400,000-a-week deal for free.

A move in January was on the cards as City failed to poach him last summer. But now, it looks like the league leaders are willing to wait until summer to land him. This worsens Arsenal’s situation- they would lose both Alexis and money.

The Chilean is set to sign for a whopping £325,000-a-week wage PLUS image rights worth another £75,000-a-week contract. This would make him one of the highest earners in the world, and the highest in England.

Sanchez’s career at the Emirates Stadium:

Sanchez joined Arsenal during the summer of 2014 from Barcelona for a mere £38.25m. He has been one of Arsenal’s most important players, single-handed winning matches for them. More often than not, he is the best man on the pitch.

He has scored 30 goals last season, despite Arsenal failing to make it to a Champion’s league spots. He looks to move to a club playing regular Champions League football, with Chile’s shock failure to qualify for the world cup.

Guardiola is keen for a reunion with Sanchez, who managed him for a season at Barcelona. The Sky Blues saw a £70m bid rejected due to Arsenal failing to land a replacement.

Three top European clubs show their interest:

City are confident they can wait until the end of the season to sign him, even though Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid remain keen and could bid in January.

Arsenal are in a similar situation with midfielder Mesut Ozil, whose contract is up next summer and he is a target for Manchester United and Barcelona.

But they have not given up on keeping the German international and are still hoping they can tempt him to stay. They have already offered him £275,000-a-week.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright admitted his disgust with his club for running down contracts with two players.

“Sanchez, on top form, is easily a £100m player. Ozil on top form is worth £70m-£80m. Arsenal are letting that go. It is disgusting business on the management side for Arsenal. How are you going to sell players like that in January for £25m? It is like people are laughing at you.” – he quoted.
