Andre Gomes injury Son challenge leaves Andre Gomes with a broken ankle

Andre Gomes injury: Son challenge leaves Andre Gomes with a broken ankle. All the players on the pitch were seen grieving at the horror accident.

Tottenham travelled to Goodison Park in search of 3 points. The club look set to win the match and ensure 3 points on the table. However, it seems that misery loves the North London side’s company. Their ill-luck followed them when star player Son Heung-Min was sent off in the 79th minute. However, much worse was to follow.

Son scythed Andre Gomes, who was running with the ball on the touchline. Unfortunately for Gomes, his foot got caught in the turn and twisted in a sickening fashion under his body. The players were all distraught by the extent of the injury.

The players on the field had varied emotions, ranging from being mortified to visibly disturbed at the event that had taken place. No one was however, as devastated as Son who left the pitch with tears not knowing if Andre Gomes will ever play the game again.

Andre Gomes was taken off the pitch on a stretcher while being administered oxygen. There is still no word on the extent of the injury. However, one can be certain that it will be a while before the Spaniard takes on the field once again.

Earlier in the match, Dele Alli broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute after an error from Alex Iwobi. The former Arsenal player’s awful pass found Son who fed the ball to Alli. The young England International made no mistake and scored his second goal of the season.

11 minutes were added into the match. Everton took advantage of the extended time given to find the equaliser in the 7th minute of extra time. Everton pressed hard and it finally paid off as Lucas Digne’s cross found Tosun’s head to give them the equaliser.

The draw is a very small compensation for the loss both Everton and Andre Gomes but that is hardly were either of their heads will be. We at sportsrush wish Andre Gomes a quick recovery. Hopefully, we will see him on a football pitch soon.
