Ankur Mittal clinches Double Trap gold in Acapulco Shotgun World Cup
Ankur Mittal has been creating waves across the international shooting fraternity, winning the silver medal in the International Shooting Sport Federation(ISSF) World Cup in New Delhi and then backing that performance up with a gold in the Double Trap event at the Acapulco Shotgun World Cup.
He lost out on a gold in Delhi to Australian, James Willet, but got his revenge in Acapulco when he tipped Willet to win gold in the Double Trap event. Also, in process of winning the title, he also equalled the world record scoring 75 out of a total 80 points. Willet, who bagged the silver medal, scored 73.
Ankur shot strong throughout the day, ending second in qualification with a score of 138 out of a possible 150. He also got the better off China’s Ying Qi 6-5 in a shoot-off to decide second and third spots after both had finished their qualifying rounds on the same score.
