Anthony Davis has been the most talked about player with respect to ‘trade rumors’ this season, as the Pelicans man is one of the hottest properties in the league at the moment.

With the Pelicans struggling to find any sort of rhythm in their bid to secure a playoff berth, rumors have further intensified with respect to Davis’ future.

Lakers and Celtics have been leading the charge with respect to securing Davis’ signature. But neither of those two franchises have been really able to get any strong leads over how Davis would act in the future.

For a moment last month, it seemed as if Lakers had secured the upper hand, post the Pelicans’ visit to LA, where in LeBron and Davis went for a dinner post their game.

LeBron has openly admitted to liking Davis and feels that he could be a major factor in the Lakers building a dynasty in LA.

That dinner in LA seemed to have sealed the deal for the Lakers, but no developments happened post that night.

Davis even ended up liking an Instagram post that read ‘LA is a bum ass city’, thereby downplaying any rumors about a potential move.

Now, in a report from Woj, it has been confirmed that Davis will not be leaving the Pelicans before this February’s trade deadline.

The Pelicans have fended off strong interest from two franchises that have a lot of history and have bought themselves some time with respect to how they can lure Davis into staying.

Davis has a year left on his contract post the ongoing season and thus Pelicans do have sufficient time to sort things out on their end.

“There is a zero-percent chance the Pelicans trade Anthony Davis before the deadline,” Wojnarowski said.

That settles the deal for the Pelicans for the moment as they will now be hoping that their performances leading up to the playoffs and in the playoffs is good enough to help Davis understand that the future in New Orleans is bright.

For that to happen though, the Pelicans will need to make some smart trades before the deadline and then also go in for a few shrewd free agents post the ongoing season.

Do you think the Lakers will be able to secure the services of Davis in the off season?
