Arsenal news: Aubameyang calls Borussia Dortmund CEO 'clown' over 'Champions League' claim

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has hit back at Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke over bank account claim.

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has been accused of moving to Arsenal to simply boost his bank according, according to Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke yesterday.

The Gabonese International moved to Arsenal in January 2018 and has eclipsed himself to another level after being tagged as one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe.

Albeit his excellence by lifting the Premier League golden boot, the Gunners failed to qualify for the Champions League for the third season running. On the other hand, the Germans were unsuccessful in their Bundesliga triumph last season, but looks set to charge for the league title once again. Signings including Jadon Sancho and Paco Alcacer have elevated them to possessing one of the most feared attacks in Europe.

Before the 2-0 victory over Slavia Prague, Watzke said Aubameyang wanted to boost his bank accounts and didn’t mind about the European competition he is playing in. Arsenal are about to face Standard Liege in the Europa League on Thursday.

“Aubameyang, who plays great at Arsenal, will probably be warm-hearted when he looks at his bank account, but on Wednesdays, will be saddened when he has to watch the Champions League on television,” Watzke told Suddeutsche Zeitung.

“Some go to clubs because of this money, where they have not played Champions League for years.”

The former Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang couldn’t hold back after an unwarranted criticism. The 30-year-old called Watzke a ‘clown’ and divulged about Ousmane Dembele’s transfer to Barcelona.

The Yellow and blacks were stubborn about the French International’s future – forcing Barcelona to pay up. Aubameyang claimed that the increase in bid saw Dortmund culminating business for Ousmane Dembele.

Aubameyang took the matter into twitter.

It read: “Better for you I never talk about why I really left Dortmund Mr Watzke you such a clown I remember that time you said we never gonna sell Ousmane then you saw more than 100M you were the first to take that money don’t talk about money please!!! Leave me alone pls”

In the recent game, Arsenal were held by Manchester United 1-1 at Old Trafford on Monday. The Gunners are currently placed fourth in the Premier League and have progressed to the next round of the League Cup, where they will face Liverpool at Anfield on October 30.
