Unai Emery is interested in the forward and is ready to splash £44m to acquire Thauvin.

Unai Emery’s club has been quite active in the transfer market, with three signings already in the transfer kitty. Arsenal signed veteran defender Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus, and announced Bern Leno’s signature from Bayer Leverkusen in the month of June. Earlier this July, Arsenal announced their third signing, as they acquired Borussia Dortmund’s defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

And it doesn’t seem like the club wants to rest.

According to French reports, Arsenal are interested in signing Florian Thauvin from Marseille. French outlet Foot01 reports that Unai Emery is interested in the forward and is ready to spend £44m to bring the player to the club.

Thauvin has emerged as a potential target for the Gunners as Unai Emery believes that he is the perfect winger for Arsenal, according to the report. The French outlet also reports that Arsenal’s North London Rivals Tottenham, as well as German champions Bayern Munich are interested in signing the forward.

Marseille, however, rates Thauvin at £70m.

The French international footballer has previously played in the Premier League for Newcastle United and didn’t enjoy a fruitful spell in England. However, he rediscovered his form while on loan at Marseille in 2016, and joined the French club permanently in 2017.

Ever since joining Marseille on a permanent basis, Thauvin has appeared for the club in 34 Ligue 1 games, scoring 22 goals. He scored 26 games throughout the season for Marseille in 52 appearances.

Arsenal lack a proper winger and hence Unai Emery believes that Thauvin’s arrival would enrich the widths for the North London side.
