Arsenal react to Watford ending Liverpool’s invincible run. The Reds were handed a 3-0 loss at the Vicarage road on Saturday.

Liverpool’s unbeaten season finally came to an end on Saturday night after Watford beat them 3-0. Sadio Mane’s compatriot Islamia Sarr was the chief architect in destruction, scoring twice in the 2nd half before Troy Deeney put the finishing touch.

The Reds had gone 27 matches without losing. The manner in which they dominated the Premier league led many to believe that Jurgen Klopp’s men would emulate the Arsenal side that won the 2003/04 season without losing a single match.

Arsene Wenger’s invincible’s were honoured with a golden trophy. With Liverpool’s loss tonight, the Reds will now have to make do with a regular trophy. A lot of rival fans were happy with the defeat. Perhaps no one was more relieved than the North London club itself however.

Immediately after Liverpool’s first league defeat of the season was confirmed, Arsenal sent out a hilarious tweet that perhaps all Arsenal fans could relate to at that moment.

Although, the Gunners did follow up with a congratulatory tweet towards Liverpool’s way following their formidable run.


Liverpool’s defeat was the heaviest suffered by a team top of the top-flight table against an opponent in the relegation zone since Leicester beat Manchester United 3-0 on November 23rd 1985.

Following their win, Watford have now moved out of the relegation zone, albeit narrowly. However, they will now fancy themselves to keep the good run and ensure their survival by the end of the season. Liverpool on the other hand, are still favourites to win the Premier League. 4 more wins in their next 10 matches will confirm their status as champions.
