Arsenal release 9 players in massive clear out

Arsenal have entered their transition era after Arsene Wenger’s departure and will have to tread their path very carefully in order to avoid a major downfall.

Every time a long serving manager steps down or is replaced, the club has to ensure that anyone who is coming in is given all the freedom to carry out things in his own way.

Unai Emery will thus be hoping that the Arsenal management no longer have the ‘Wenger hangover’ and let him be his own man at the club.

Whilst taking care of new signings into the club, Emery’s first task was also deciding the players that need to be released and that can be offered new contracts at the club. That decision has been made by the former PSG manager and he has infact released 9 players from Arsenal in what is being considered as one massive clear out.

Cazorla and Mertesacker headline the ‘released players’ list. Cazorla has been plagued by injury in the last few years and thus has left the club to join Villareal, whereas Mertesacker had announced his retirement last season itself.

Released Players: Marc Bola, Santi Cazorla, Alexander Crean, Aaron Eyoma, Ryan Huddart, Chiori Johnson, Hugo Keto, Per Mertesacker and Tafari Moore.

6 Players have the word ‘offer’ written across them and Wilshere leads the line with doubts over his Arsenal future looming large.

Contract offered: Tolaji Bola, Josh Dasilva, Vlad Dragomir, Yassin Fortune, Deyan Iliev and Jack Wilshere.

Arsenal have done good business in the market as of now by signing Stephan Lichtsteiner and are in the hunt for a few good reinforcements. Emery would be hoping for a marquee signing this summer, but we’ll have to wait and see if the Arsenal provide him with a free hand to actually go out and do it.
