Premier League giants, Arsenal, are reported to have been in ‘advanced talks’ with Borussia Mönchengladbach shot-stopper, Yann Sommer.

New Gunners manager Unai Emery has already made five signings in his first transfer window as manager, and has already signed German goal-keeper Bernd Leno. However, the Spanish manager wants competition in all fields at the club.

With the arrival of Leno and the possible arrival of Sommer, both David Ospina and Petr Cech are likely to head out of the Emirates.

Spanish outlet, Marca, believes that Arsenal are close to finishing out a deal for the Swiss goal-keeper, who will compete for his place with Bernd Leno.

The deal seems a little confusing for Arsenal fans, as they already have so many goalkeepers in their ranks.

Marca also reports that Catalan giants, FC Barcelona, are interested to sign the 29-year-old Swiss international. However, with Arsenal likely to capture the signature of Sommer, Barcelona might look towards Liverpool outcast Simon Mignolet, as they look to replace outgoing Jasper Cillessen.

Yann Sommer was one of Switzerland’s best player at show during the World Cup in Russia, and is now ready to leave the Bundesliga, after having played four seasons with Gladbach.

Arsenal goal-keeper, Petr Cech is also speculated to make a sensational come-back to Chelsea, after reports reveal that Real Madrid are very likely to sign Chelsea’s number 1 shot-stopper, Thibaut Courtois.

On the other hand, David Ospina, who was convinced to stay last summer by Arsene Wenger, believes he has no option but to make a move away from the Emirates.

Arsenal have already completed five signings this summer, having signed Stephan Lichsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Bernd Leno, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira.

The Gunners’ next assignment is in Singapore, as they start their middle-east tour. Mesut Ozil, who was awarded an extended holiday due to his participation in the World Cup, has cut short his holidays and is expected to join his team-mates in Singapore.
