Juan Mata contract extension

Juan Mata contract extension: It has been reported that the Spanish star is set to sign a new deal at Manchester United.

Juan Mata signed for Manchester United in January 2014 after a lack of chances at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho. Last weekend, Mata entered into top-10 list of most apperances for the club.

However, things have been a little different for the Spaniard outside the pitch.

Juan Mata has been linked with a move away from Manchester United over the past few weeks. The Spanish midfielder’s contract with the club expires next year, and Arsenal are rumored to make a move for the star.

However, the recent report claims that Mata is set to be offered a new contract at the club.

Juan Mata contract extension:

It has been reported by English media outlet Mirror that the Spanish star is set to be offered a new deal at the club. It has been claimed by Standard earlier that Mourinho wants to keep Juan Mata, as well as Ander Herrera at the club.

The contract of both the midfielders are expiring at the end of the season.

Mirror also reports that Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Mata, but that Manchester United are confident of tying the player down to new deal at Old Trafford.

The side has struggled in the new season so far. After a disappointing draw against Crystal Palace in the league last week, Manchester United are at 7th, and have now faced their worst start to the season in the last 28 years.

Manchester United are the only club in the Premier League top-10 to have a negative goal difference.

Juan Mata has been impressive for Manchester United this season, but has suffered with inconsistency at times. He played a crucial role in Manchester United’s terrific win at Juventus, where he scored one of the two goals to secure an extraordinary comeback.

What next?

Manchester United will return to action in the Champions League this week as they take on Young Boys in a bid to strengthen their bid for a round-of-16 berth in the tournament.
