The transition period in Arsenal’s history has just begun and with Unai Emery signed in as the new head coach, Arsenal will now look to get in the reinforcements that their new man in charge needs in order to get this Arsenal side up and running.

Arsenal have been on the lookout for better defensive options in the market and it looks they have been handed a massive boost in their bid to find a new right-back.

Stephan Lichtsteiner is out of a contract this summer and has confirmed that he will be leaving Juve for a club stint abroad.

According to reports in the Guardian, Arsenal seem to be the favourites to land Lichtsteiner’s signature and is expected to Emery’s first signing.

“I’m playing in one of the biggest clubs in Europe and there’s always competition for places,” Lichtsteiner said, as quoted by Mediaset.

“But my future is going to be away from Turin. At the end of the season I’m leaving. I’ll play abroad next year but I’ve not signed anything yet.” he added.

The Switzerland captain has found it tough to cement his spot in the Juve starting line up, especially after the arrival of Mattia De Sciglio from Milan.

Bellerin has been erratic and off-colour this season and hence couldn’t find a spot in the Spain squad for the World Cup as well.

Lichtsteiner would bring in a lot of experience and could help Bellerin out with a few tricks of the trade at the Emirates. Also, being a free transfer, his value increases that little bit more for Emery and the Arsenal board.

How do you think Lichtsteiner would play for Arsenal?
