Arsenal Transfer: Gunners to complete third summer signing after William Saliba acquisition

Arsenal are closing in on Brazilian Everton Soares from Gremio.

Arsenal are in touching distance from signing Everton Soares from Gremio. The Gunners and Gremio have agreed a €40 million deal for the forward, as per reports.

The 23-year-old has been on the radar of some clubs after impressive displays in the Copa America. The Brazilian went on to score three goals in the tournament, including one against Peru in the final.

Having spent all his career back in his home country, the attacker has the chance to join Unai Emery at Emirates Stadium for this season. The Spanish publication Marca say that both the clubs have agreed a fee worth €40 million for Everton.

The Gunners have sent their medical team to Brazil, and if everything goes up to the plan, the Brazilian will become Arsenal’s third summer signing. Born in Maracanau, Everton has notched up 38 goals and 10 assists from 148 games in the Brazilian top division.

Everton Soares is seen as Wilfried Zaha’s alternative. The Ivorian’s €80 million price tag is punitive for the Gunners, who were able to match only half of his price tag. Despite the attacker’s desire to leave for a European club, the Eagles have stood firm blocking his move.

Zaha is all set to have a conversation with the club after the AFCON, but Unai Emery has already changed his mind by piercing a deal for Everton Soares. This marks the end of the Ivorian’s pursuit for the Gunners.

It was initially a tough summer window for the Gunners, but they have slowly stump out to recruitments. Gabriel Martinelli has already been unveiled, whilst it is only a matter of time for the conclusion of William Saliba’s transfer. Should they manage to land Dani Ceballos and Kieran Tierney, it would mark as a successful transfer window for the Europa League runners-up.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Arsenal already have breakneck pace in the frontline with Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette already at disposal and Everton will add more width to the attack by stretching opponent’s defence.
