Arsenal Transfer News: Alex Iwobi to head to Everton after clubs agree on a deal

Arsenal Transfer News: Alex Iwobi to head to Everton after clubs agree on a deal on the transfer deadline day.

Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi is set for a move away from the Emirates Stadium. The 23 year old was Arsenal’s most capped player. Unai Emery fielded him 51 times in all competition, more than any other player in the squad. However, the arrival of Nicolas Pepe means that there is a lot more competition in the team for places.

Unai Emery clearly rates Iwobi. However, the Nigerian would have been pressed for time had he stayed. Despite having 2 of their bids denied previously, Everton refused to give in and it seems Arsenal have finally relented.

BBC Sports journalist David Ornstein has reported that a deal has been brokered between Arsenal and Everton for a fee in the region of £35-40m.

Iwobi himself would land a bumper contract and be paid a weekly wage of somewhere between £120,000 and £150,000. His deal with the toffees will run for 5 years. He is undergoing medical and an announcement shall come out soon.

Skysports had earlier reported that the Premier League have received six deal sheets before the deadline with Alex Iwobi being one of them.

Alex Iwobi joined Arsenal as an 8 year old. The winger came through the ranks and finally made his Arsenal debut under former manager Arsene Wenger in 2015. However, he was soon sidelined and remained so until the arrival of Unai Emery.
