Steve Bergwijn to Man Utd: The winger has attracted significant interest from Premier League, and United are favourites for his signature.

Manchester United have been in fine form since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The side registered their seventh successive win across all competitions when they beat Brighton 2-1 at Old Trafford last weekend.

However, in the transfer market, the club’s stance has largely been negative. Solskjaer confirmed in the press conference last week that a possibility of an incoming transfer is unlikely.

While the club might not be making transfers, Manchester United continue to monitor their targets. It was confirmed yesterday that the club is interested in Bristol City’s attacker Antoine Semenyo, and now, Dutch outlet De Telegraaf has reported that United are in the race for PSV winger, Steve Bergwijn.

However, they face competition from Inter Milan.

Steve Bergwijn to Man Utd:

The 21-year-old winger currently plays as a left winger for Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. He has been impressive for the side so far, bagging 9 goals and 8 assists in 17 league games.

He was also called up for Netherlands’ national side during the Nations League last year, having made two appearances so far.

De Telegraaf reports that Manchester United are interested in the player. However, the report also claims that a move for Bergwijn in the current transfer window is highly unlikely.

Also, Manchester United are not inclined towards making a signing in the January transfer window. Various reports have suggested that Ed Woodward will wait the beginning of the new season to make incoming transfers.

The Old Trafford outfit is not the only club eyeing for his signature, however. Serie A side Inter Milan is also in the race for the player.

Manchester Evening News (via Sun) has reported that despite the interest from various clubs across Europe, Bergwijn is tempted by a move to Manchester United.

What next?

While we will closely follow the story as it grows, there is more good news for Manchester United. Anthony Martial is reportedly close to signing a new contract with the club, after United announced a new deal for Scott McTominay earlier this week.

The side will be back in action on Saturday as they take on Arsenal in the FA Cup fifth round.
