Arsenal transfer news: Arsenal battle Manchester United for star Lyon youngster

Arsenal transfer news: The Gunners have identified the Lyon forward as a target, but Manchester United have also shown interest in the player.

Arsenal has emerged as one of the top contenders for a top-4 finish in the Premier League this season.

The side might be at the sixth position in the league, but hold a two-game advantage over Chelsea who is fourth, and has played a game less than Manchester United.

Unai Emery’s key issue, however, is the side’s away form. Arsenal has scored only 19 points from 15 away games, and the side faces four of its remaining six games away from Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal will take on Watford later tonight in a significant Premier League clash at Vicarage Road.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are also keeping tabs on the transfer market and are reportedly interested in signing a Lyon youngster. However, they could face stiff competition from Manchester United for his signature.

Arsenal transfer news:

According to Daily Mirror, Arsenal are interested in Lyon’s 22-year-old forward, Moussa Dembele.

The striker joined Lyon only last year from Celtic and has been impressive for the French side so far. Dembele has scored 19 goals across all competitions for Lyon in this season, and according to the report, Manchester United are also monitoring the player.

The report claims that Unai Emery is a ‘long-term admirer’ of Dembele and wants the player to join Arsenal.

Solskjaer, meanwhile, wants to bolster United’s attacking options. Manchester United have been underwhelming in the attack, as their main striker Romelu Lukaku has had an inconsistent season so far. The Belgian’s agent also admitted earlier this month that Lukaku is open to leaving Manchester United, which triggered a sense of urgency for Solskjaer.

Emery has been looking out for Moussa Dembele as Danny Welbeck is likely to leave Arsenal this decision. In Moussa Dembele, the Arsenal head coach will have a quality striker who could play a supporting role for Aubameyang and Lacazette.
