Arsenal Transfer News: Lille accept Gunners’ €80 million bid for Nicolas Pepe. He will be the fourth player to join their ranks this summer.
Arsenal have had quite the summer. After the turmoil of last season, they were looking for a new beginning. However, it seemed almost impossible with reports circulating that manager Unai Emery only had a meagre £40 million budget at his disposal.

Their failed pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha led to fans worrying about the health of the club. However, in the last few weeks or so, Arsenal have punched above their weight, both on and off the field.
Their pre-season tour was a success, winning two out of 3. Their only loss coming through penalty shoot-out after they drew 2-2 against Real Madrid at full time. They have also made key additions to the squad by bringing in Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid and William Saliba from St. Etienne. However, it is very likely that Arsenal have pulled a coup with their latest signing.
Arsenal land Nicolas Pepe
BBC Sport journalist David Ornstein has reported that Arsenal have come to an agreement with Lille over the signing of star winger Nicolas Pepe. The deal will cost the London side a hefty €80 million. The fee though, will be paid in instalments to fit Arsenal’s budget. Pepe’s agent’s agreement is needed but will likely be settled in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Apparently, Napoli also struck an agreement with Lille for the Ivorian but his manager rejected the offer. Reports from Italy suggest that Arsenal are willing to pay the agents’ fees and commission they desire, placing them in pole position to agree personal terms.
Nicolas Pepe scored 22 goals last season and assisted 11 times as well. Apart from that, he was the only player in Europe’s top five divisions to have 100+ shots, win 100+ fouls and complete 100+ take-ons in the league in 2018-19. He will truly be vital to Arsenal’s hopes of reaching the top 4 this season.
