Bangladesh vs New Zealand Match Prediction: Who Will Win Today Cricket Match Prediction | CWC 2019

Bangladesh vs New Zealand Match Prediction: The Sportsrush present before you Match Prediction of 2019 World Cup Match 9 between BAN and NZ.

We are in for an action packed Wednesday with India and South Africa’s clash being followed up by an encounter between the two sides who have impressed us the most this season. The second day-night match in the World Cup sees us head to the Kennington Oval, London where New Zealand and Bangladesh will be squaring off against each other.

Having won both their opening encounters, Bangladesh’s and New Zealand’s wins saw them not only get their tournament off in the perfect fashion but also made the world stand up and take notice with the manner in they got around those wins.

Bangladesh, especially, played a meticulous brand of cricket on course to becoming the first Asian team to defeat South Africa twice at the World Cup, a feat which truly epitomizes that they have more than just a shock result in them.

Bangladesh vs New Zealand – What numbers suggest?

The two countries have rummaged through 34 ODIs till date with New Zealand completely dominating this fixture. They’ve emerged winners of 24 occasions as compared to the lowly 10 for Bangladesh.

Most recently these two sides had played against each other in a 3-match ODI series in 2018 with New Zealand defeating Bangladesh by 8 wickets in the first two encounters before completing the sweep with an 88-run win.

Bangladesh vs New Zealand – Key Battles

Mashrafe Mortaza vs Colin Munro

Colin Munro showed against Sri Lanka that he’s someone who is more than just an explosive opening batsman. Remaining unbeaten alongside Martin Guptill, the opener played an innings which showed he’s spent time with the batting coach and worked on playing according to the circumstances at hand.

Bangladesh is an opposition he’s enjoyed his time against as well, scoring 200 runs in the 7 matches he’s gone out and gotten a wield of the bat against them. However the one bowler who has troubled him the most has been Mashrafe Mortaza, dismissing him on 3 occasions in those matches.

The overcast conditions will see the ball frisk about early on and Mortaza needs to try and entice Munro into going for the big shot by working his fingers around the ball and trying to pitch the ball at a fuller length.

Tamim Iqbal vs Matt Henry

New Zealand decided to drop Tim Southee and bring in Matt Henry whose three-wicket haul not only hurt Sri Lanka but also provided the perfect assistance to Trent Boult’s restrictive line and length at the other end.

Bowling with the new ball, he’ll face Tamim Iqbal for whom the time to step up and perform is fast running out. On a pitch where the runs will pour by the minute, Iqbal knows he needs to come good for his side and put on a strong stand to justify his prolonged selection in the team.

In Matt Henry, he’s going to play against a bowler who has dismissed him just once in four matches, someone who will be not so tentative in facing. Iqbal hates anything bowled with pace and moving into him and Henry will be eying those areas in a bid to send the out of form opener back early.

Bangladesh vs New Zealand – Match Prediction

Given the way these two sides have traversed their opening matches, this match is going to be a real humdinger. Bangladesh know these conditions well, having won their opening match here and could all too easily replicate their marvelous batting display.

What will prove to be a tepid ask for them though is the New Zealand pace battery which when in full sight and song can prove to be improbable to take apart. However, West Indies showed that apart from their frontline bowlers, the part and bit bowlers are all too prone to go for runs and if Bangladesh can exploit that area, they’ll be eyeing up 300 yet again.

This match should see New Zealand’s on the top especially if their Top Four incredible batsmen deliver. They’ll amass a bagful of runs on this surface, one which will see them come out of their second win of the tournament.
