Barcelona are optimistic of triggering Antoine Griezmann’s release clause

The January transfer window started with a bang for Barcelona, as the Catalans completed their dream move for Liverpool’s Phillipe Coutinho. The Brazilian penned down a five-and-a-half-year deal for a reported €160mn with bonuses.

Barcelona also signed Colombian midfielder Yerry Mina from Palmeiras for €11.8 million and included a release clause of €100 million. The defensive midfielder scored nine goals in 49 appearances for Palmeiras, and three other for his national team in nine caps.

However, the Blaugrana don’t want to stop here. The mega deal for Neymar has given a lot of cash flow for the Spanish side and the club seem to invest it very properly. After getting in big names like Dembele and Coutinho, Barcelona are reportedly looking to meet the £89million release clause for France and Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann.

A reported loss of interest from Manchester United, due to them prioritizing for Paulo Dybala, Barcelona are looking to enter the race to sign the Frenchman. Reports claim that Barcelona have already entered negotiations to get in Griezmann but nothing is confirmed as of now. The club is optimistic of triggering the buy-out clause but nothing has been agreed as of now.

Meanwhile, the Spanish side can easily gather some extra funds to initiate the Griezmann deal. Arda Turan is being tracked back to his home country with Istanbul Basakeshir interested to sign him. Out of action Brazilian, Rafinha also looks set to join Inter Milan, with the club opting for a £17.7million purchase.

Javier Mascherano also looks set for a 10m euro switch to China’s Hebei Fortune. Former Valencia striker Paco Alcacer is in the list of off-load players for Barcelona with Premier League clubs wanting the 24-year old striker. Everton and Crystal Palace are the clubs wanting to sign the Barca outcast.
