Barcelona and Liverpool have been jostling over Phillippe Coutinho the entire summer. Coutinho is a Liverpool player, but he has made it pretty clear that he wants to join the Catalan giants.

Liverpool fans thought that Coutinho was injured, which is why he has not played for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season. But images of the Brazilian playing for his national team has caused outrage among the Anfield faithful.

Klopp though, has insisted that Coutinho would be welcomed back with open arms if he is still a Liverpool player in 24 hours time.

Liverpool are preparing for a very busy deadline day, as they look to sign Thomas Lemar for a reported 100 million euros.

Interestingly, Lemar is also a major target for Barcelona if Coutinho fails to complete his deadline day move to Spain. Barcelona have now become Liverpool’s main rival in getting the talented Frenchman’s signature today.

Klopp wants to hold on to Coutinho and sign Lemar as well. It would be a huge statement of intent from the Liverpool boss, as he looks to launch a title challenge.

Having already added Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, Klopp will now be looking to gain Lemar’s signature. But Barcelona’s involvement complicates the matter.

Should Liverpool sell Coutinho to the Catalan side, they will be able to gain a clear path towards Lemar. Some say that Coutinho to Barcelona is a done deal, which is why Klopp is so interested in signing Lemar from Monaco.

Nothing is certain though. We will only get a clear picture once the transfer window shuts in a few hours time!
