Barcelona vs Liverpool: Twitter reactions on Lionel Messi’s majestic performance to win it for Barca and almost knocks Liverpool out
It was Lionel Messi’s night at the Camp Nou. He played like a man who was desperate to win and win he did; thanks to that majestic freekick that he put past Alisson to send the stadium in a state of frenzy.
Barcelona ended up winning 3-0 on the night, thanks to two goals from Lionel Messi and one from Luis Suarez.
Barcelona went into the break with a slender 1-0 lead, and were under some severe Liverpool pressure in the second half, when Ter Stegen was called upon multiple times.
However, they soaked it all in, let Liverpool come to them and then struck on the counter attack, thanks to a little luck. Suarez and Messi hunted Liverpool down, with Suarez hitting the crossbar and then Messi being present at the right place to walk the ball into the goal.
And then, just when Liverpool would have been thinking about getting that all important away goal, Messi slotted an absolutely magical curling freekick into the top corner to win it for Barcelona.
The Barcelona star went crazy after the goal, as he knew he had helped his team get over a very, very strong Liverpool side.
Social media went crazy for Lionel Messi after that goal, as it was simply out of the world.
This is how twitter reacted:

Messi has terrorised Tottenham, annihilated Arsenal, massacred Manchester United, conquered Chelsea and mesmerised Manchester City. Only Liverpool has escaped his magic.
Leo, you know what to do.

If you disregard the 7 goals Celtic let in against Barcelona at the Nou Camp in 2016 and only count the 2 they conceded at Celtic Park against them in the reverse fixture then that betters Liverpool’s score tonight
Proof I’m a better manager than Klopp?
That’s not for me to say

Liverpool fans really laughed at us when Ronaldo celebrated when he scored against us, but Suarez, the guy who was in tears when they nearly won the league knee slid when he just scored. I love it 🤣
