The Catalan giants have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to buy Southampton ace Virgil Van Dijk. This comes days after Barcelona failed to bring Liverpool Starlet Philippe Coutinho to Camp Nou.

Liverpool had to drop their idea of bringing Van Dijk to Anfield this summer and even had to issue an apology after being reported to FA over an illegal approach for the centre-back(Van Dijk).

Southampton were clearly disappointed by the Liverpool’s pursuit of their ace player. And if they take this in to consideration, Saints will clearly sell the player to Barcelona, instead of Liverpool.

Many big clubs were linked to the player this summer. Van Dijk departed from Celtic for Southampton in 2015 and since then has made his mark in the starting XI. He was named the captain of the team in 2017, after the departure of Jose Fonte for West Ham United.

Barca’s interest in the centre-back has grown over the time and are now looking forward to bring the player to Camp Nou. The players seems to be a perfect addition to the squad of Catalonian Giants and can eventually help them in getting their hands on some silverware.

The Dutchman’s future is now in the hands of the Saints and it’ll be really interesting to see, where the player will be after this transfer window.
