The latest development in the Adrien Rabiot transfer saga suggests Barcelona have pulled off their offer for the French midfielder.

It was earlier reported that Rabiot had struck a verbal agreement with Barcelona for a transfer at the beginning of the new season.

However, according to Sport, Barcelona have now withdrawn their offer for the PSG midfielder.

Rabiot has already had professional issues with Paris Saint-Germain. His personal issues with his mother Veronique Rabiot have now resulted in Barca backtracking on their offer for the player.

According to Sport, Barcelona has told Rabiot to approach the club personally.

Rabiot sacked his mother as his agent earlier this week. However, he has not yet made contact with Barca.

It was believed that Barcelona would stop their pursuit of the player after securing the signing of Frenkie De Jong.

However, with Sergio Busquets turning 31 this summer and a tense contract situation surrounding Ivan Rakitic, a move for Rabiot was considered a possibility.

Adrien Rabiot began his career with PSG after spending two years with the club’s youth side. The player has made 224 appearances for the side across all competitions, scoring 27 goals.

PSG reportedly banned him from featuring in any game for the club for the entire season last year. The reason behind the move was the failure to agree on a new contract.

Rabiot hasn’t played for PSG since December. He was also left out of the squad for their game against Manchester United last week despite a significant injury crisis at the club.

He was also involved in a controversy with the French national team. After Didier Deschamps put Rabiot in the reserve list for the World Cup, Rabiot declared himself unavailable for the tournament. He stated that he would not “be able to follow the training programme.”

Various outlets earlier stated that Arsenal were among the favourites to sign the player due to Unai Emery’s understanding with the player. Rabiot has worked under Unai Emery during the latter’s time with PSG.
