Benjamin Pavard interested in Arsenal move; ‘Dreams of playing in Premier League’

Arsenal has made an enquiry about defender Benjamin Pavard, according to reports in France.

After a disappointing 2017-18 season, Arsenal’s new manager Unai Emery intends to bring Arsenal back on track. Arsenal have been facing defensive woes throughout the season, as the Gunners conceded 51 goals. Per Mertesacker has retired, and Laurent Koscielny is suffering from Achilles injury which will keep him out for at least another 7 months.

Hector Bellerin faced issues with his consistency throughout the season. This has led to Unai Emery leading a defensive overhaul at the club. While the club is already close to signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Stephan Lichtsteiner, Emery is also keen on strengthening the full-backs position.

The latest name is Emery’s list is that of Benjamin Pavard. The Spanish manager is keen on signing the French defender from Vfb Stuttgard, and according to L’Equipe, Arsenal have made an enquiry about the player.

According to Calcioinsider, Pavard has also expressed interest in playing for the Arsenal. Pavard has told Stuttgart that he wants to play in the Premier League, says the report.

Pavard is a highly versatile defender who can play at all positions. He’s naturally a right-back, but he has also played a few games as centre-back and defensive midfielder for Stuttgart this season.

It is also claimed that Borussia Dortmund, Napoli and Marseille are in the race to sign the defender. According to the report by L’Equipe, Stuttgart has valued the defender at 45m.

Pavard enjoyed a highly impressive season with Stuttgart, and was rewarded with a world cup call-up for the summer. He made his international debut in 2017, and has since made 5 appearances for France.

The 22 year old made 29 appearances for Stuttgart last season. Pavard’s contract with Stuttgart expires in 2021.
