Benjamin Pavard to Barcelona: France’s World Cup star Benjamin Pavard has reportedly been offered to Barcelona.
Benjamin Pavard enjoyed a terrific World Cup campaign with France in Russia this summer, and headlined major transfer stories. While the defender chose to stay at Stuttgart this season, his current contract expires in 2019. Recent report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona are offered his services.
The report says that the agents of French player have contacted Barcelona for a potential transfer. According to the report, Stuttgart will sell Pavard on release clause, which is currently valued at 35 million euros.
However, Barcelona will only consider the option to buy the defender if they agree to shift Sergi Roberto to midfield. The Spanish international has largely featured as a defender in Barcelona, and the club also has Nelson Semedo in the full-back role.
Pavard was heavily agreed with a move to Bayern Munich, following his performances at the World Cup.
The French defender was called-up for the national squad for his excellent performances for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga last season. He made solid performances against the likes of Argentina, Uruguay, Belgium and Croatia, especially when he was often left exposed due to pacy runs from Kylian Mbappe.
Pavard is most likely to leave Stuttgart at the end of the current season, and Bayern Munich are the most likely destination in the transfer speculations so far. The French defender, however, has stated that he would also prefer a move away from Germany.
“Clubs like Barca, Real, Bayern or Dortmund, that’s something to dream about, but I do not ask myself the question yet. I am in Stuttgart, I have a contract. There is an end of season to manage, the best position to secure, the national team too. We’ll see what happens in the future,” the defender told Goal.
