Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is set to join Premier League side Leicester City as the new manager.
Reports from Scotland suggest that Brendan Rodgers has left his position as the manager of Celtic FC.
Rodgers joined the Scottish side in 2016 and led them to domestic treble in his first two seasons. Neil Lennon is expected to take charge of Celtic until the end of the season.
Leicester City activated Rodgers’ 8m pounds buy-out clause and the Northern-Irish manager will reportedly join the side with his assistant Chris Davies, and Kolo Toure.
It has been reported by the Evening Times that Brendan Rodgers wasn’t inclined on leaving Celtic in the middle of the season, and that he was aiming for a triple-treble.
However, an urgency on Leicester’s part forced the manager to make the move.
Leicester City sacked Claude Puel as their manager earlier this week after the Foxes suffered a 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace. The side is winless across all competitions since January 1.
Brendan Rodgers famously took Liverpool to a second-place finish in the 2013/14 season. Liverpool looked set to lift the Premier League title for the first time in the club’s history, but lost their track after a series of shaky weeks.
The side lost 2-0 to Chelsea, which was soon followed by a 3-3 draw at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace. Manchester City went on to win the league title in the season.
However, Liverpool lost Luis Suarez to Barcelona in the next season, which led to a massive downfall in side’s performance. The club finished 6th in the season, and Rodgers was sacked after merely ten league games into the 2015/16 season.
Jurgen Klopp replaced the Northern-Irish manager.
Steven Gerrard has bullied Brendan Rodgers out of the Scottish Premiership.

Brendan Rodgers set to bring character back to the Premier League with Leicester City, with Kolo Toure part of his backroom staff and #LCFC playing Man City on the penultimate day of the season to hand the title to #LFC?

Leicester was in need of great character, so it’s only fitting that the club turned their attention to Brendan Rodgers.
