On a day where India is reminiscing over the famous 2011 World Cup win, PV Sindhu is scripting a wonderful story in the badminton circuit. She is making an entire nation believe that we can be the best at something that is not spelled as ‘cricket’. And she has a little flashback to feed us with as well, as she’ll be taking on Carolina Marin in a repeat of the Rio 2016 final.

Carolina Marin has been at the helm of World badminton for sometime now and would be hoping to extend her winning run over the high flying Sindhu. While Sindhu got the better of Marin in straight sets in the Dubai World Series final(their most recent meeting) but Marin still holds the edge in their overall head to head record(5-3).

Sindhu on the other hand is extremely confident of tipping Marin to the title as she apparently has figured out a strategy to counter all of Marin’s trickery, something that was on display during their final in Dubai. Also, the home advantage should work in Sindhu’s favour, as she would be looking to ride on the crowd’s support to pip Marin one more time.

“I know it will be a really good match for the fans to enjoy and I will look to use their support to my advantage. I will give my best on the court,” said Sindhu when asked about her match up with Carolina Marin.

The 23-year-old Marin reached the final after a straight-game victory against Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi that ended 21-16 21-14.

Marin has looked in supreme touch all through this competition and would be a handful for Sindhu, despite Sindhu having figured out a strategy to deal with Marin’s all court play.
