After ordering the Chelsea board to sign Tottenham’s Danny Rose, Antonio Conte has now stepped up his interest in Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Chelsea boss is a huge admirer of the former Saints player, and wishes to prize him away from Arsenal. While Wenger would loathe to part ways with Chamberlain, Conte feels that he could lure him away from the Emirates.

The Ox had a superb end to last season, as he reveled in the new system that Wenger deployed. As a fullback, Chamberlain was able to bomb forward and provide an attacking impetus while also fulfilling his defensive duties at the back.

The 23-year old has had a frustrating time as of late. Tipped to become the next big thing in English football, the Ox struggled with injuries as he failed to cement a permanent spot for himself in the side.

This is what Wenger had to say about the Ox,

“I think in his career he had some bad moments because he had some small injuries. Last year he was much more stable.”

“Personally, I think he is a hugely talented player. He is on the way up and he will continue to move up because that potential is there.

‘He is today very conscious of his qualities as well, which he was not always, and I personally believe he will be a very great player.”

Unlike in the previous seasons, Arsene Wenger has refused to sell his best players who are in the last year of their contract. It was reportedly Arsene Wenger who did not allow Alexis Sanchez to move away from the Emirates, which is why it seems highly unlikely that he would allow Chamberlain to move either.

Especially to a rival such as Chelsea!
