Chelsea Carabao Cup Lineup vs Grimsby Town: Frank Lampard’s Blues prepares to take on football league two side Grimsby Town in the League Cup third round.

Chelsea shift their attentions to the League Cup as they prepare to take on Grimsby Town at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

The Blues are struggling to pick up results despite being at their best at times. Their defence has been struggling to find it’s feet, but the attacking line has been nothing short of extraordinary. Additionally, many young players are coming through their academy ranks – making life easier for Lampard to rotate his squad. They have only eight points from six games, and will primarily focus on getting over the line.

Chelsea’s opponents, Grimsby Town, are ninth in the league table – picking up four victories out of possible ten. It has been an average start to their campaign, but they will be jubilant if they are to end up their League Cup run against Chelsea. The chances of causing an upset look slim as the Blues play at their own patch and their squad is significantly better.

We shall look at Chelsea’s injuries, suspensions, and potential starting lineup for Grimsby clash.

INJURIES

Ruben Loftus is taking strides towards full fitness, he won’t be available until November. Emerson suffered an injury against Liverpool and will sit out for this game. Andreas Christensen is also likely to warm the bench. Other absentees are Antonio Rudiger and Marco Van Ginkel.

SUSPENSIONS

There are no suspensions for Chelsea and Frank Lampard.

FULL TEAM

Chelsea: Willy Caballero, Reece James, Kurt Zouma, Fikayo Tomori, Marcos Alonso, Billy Gilmour, Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic Michy Batshuayi.
