Reports have suggested that the Premier League side are looking to plunder the Bundesliga once again for one of their brightest young players in Kai Havertz. However, Bayer Leverkusen chief Rudi Voller admits that if Havertz continues to play the way he is, he will garner attention from Europe’s elites. However, he added that Leverkusen were in a good position and hoped to hold on to him.

‘We haven’t given up hope that he’ll stay with us,’ Voller told ARD. ‘We try to give him every possibility that he can call up his qualities.

“He did an outstanding job in the second half of the season.”

Havertz has been pivotal for Leverkusen’s success this season. He has 15 goals and 8 assists to his name this season in all competitions. He has also scored five times in four games since the resumption of the Bundesliga.

The 20-year old is currently on the radar of several of Europe’s top clubs such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. However, Chelsea are determined to add him to their squad. They are reportedly willing to do whatever it takes to bring him in.

With Havertz’s market value sitting north of £75m however, Chelsea will have to spend heavily to acquire his service.
