Chelsea Transfer News: Blues enter to sign free agent French defender

Chelsea Transfer News: Blues enter the race to sign a free agent French defender, considers it as a cheap alternate to Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea reportedly needs to sign reinforcements at the position of left-back to come out as a potent force next season in the Premier League and have considered few options.

Now, according to a report published by the France Football, Chelsea is lining up to fight for the services of Layvin Kurzawa, who will become a free agent this summer.

The Blues view the 27-year-old defender as the cheaper alternative for Ben Chilwell, who is rated by Leicester City at £60 million, which is a pretty affordable price amidst the current crises.

However, Chelsea has the resources to pull that, but it is already putting a lot of money into the transfer of Timo Werner, who is speculated to join Chelsea this summer.

Meanwhile, it would even fund Chelsea’s ambitions to sign Kai Havertz, whose price tag also goes somewhere beyond £50 million. Apart from that the alternatives against Chilwell are also a bit expensive and could turn out to be flops.

But at the same time, even though Kurzawa is going to be cost-effective, because there would not be any transfer fee involved, he is still not an upgrade over Marcus Alonso and Emerson.

Therefore, Chelsea does need someone like Chilwell in their ranks who can bolster the defence. Lucas Digne is also another good option for the West-London club.

But they haven’t given a thought for Digne, even though, he could end up being cheaper than Chilwell and have similar traits held by the English defender.

Amidst all of this, even Arsenal is behind Kurzawa considering he is still a decent option to hire without the obligation of submitting a transfer fee.
