Chelsea Transfer News: Blues eye shock transfer from Arsenal as Frank Lampard aims to strengthen his side in the summer window.
Chelsea have greatly benefited from the rise of Tammy Abraham this season. However, it is possible that the young Englishman could be their only recognised striker next season. Both Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi are speculated to leave the club in the summer.
Frank Lampard may very well dip into the transfer market to strengthen his attacking resources. He may surprisingly raid London rivals Arsenal in the process.
Chelsea eye shock Aubameyang transfer
According to ESPN, Frank Lampard has Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on his radar. The Gabonese, who has 49 goals in 75 appearances for the North London side, is speculated to leave the club in order to pursue his ambition of winning trophies.
His contract is set to expire next year and he is yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners. However, there are feelings within the club that believe that he will stay put with the club. Although, in the event, the forward fails to commit his future to the club, they will not hesitate to sell the player in an attempt to avoid past mistakes where players such as Aaron Ramsey were let go on a free.
Chelsea view the player as a cheaper alternative to Moussa Dembele and Timo Werner; the latter of whom is likely to join Liverpool instead. Due to the limited time left on his contract, it is speculated that he would cost between £40m-£50m. All valuations right now though, are uncertain with the market in a state of flux.
It remains to be seen however, if Mikel Arteta would allow his most important player to go to a direct rival. There is also the case of Aubameyang’s wages. He is currently on £200,000-a-week at Arsenal and is certain to ask a higher salary at Stamford Bridge.
