After serving their two year ban, Chennai Super Kings will mark their return to the Indian Premier League this year, as one of the most iconic brands in IPL history will roar again in the eleventh edition of India’s annual cricketing carnival.
You cannot think of the IPL without thinking of the Super Kings from Chennai, as their ‘whistle podu’ slogan is one of the most recognizable sounds in the history of the competitioin.
The two time IPL champions have been sorely missed over the last couple of years, as the spot-fixing scandal deprived the great fans of Chennai from cheering on their heroes in yellow.

And of course, the return of CSK will also mean the return of MS Dhoni to Chennai, as the Ranchi man will return to his adopted home.
Whilst his time with the Super Kings, Dhoni was the undisputed king of Chennai as the CSK skipper was adored all around the Chepauk Stadium.
“That’s an obvious one. We will have him (Dhoni) back as captain. We don’t know by when we have to submit it (the list of retained players). Once the deadline is set, we will finalise the list. For Dhoni it would be like returning home, 100 per cent. That’s what he also said during the TNPL,” a CSK official had said.
It is now being reported that the Super Kings franchise have decided to retain MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina.
While MSD’s retention was a no-brainer, it is the news of Raina being retained that has really caught everyone’s eye.
Suresh Raina is arguably the greatest IPL batsman in the history of the tournament. But we need to understand that this isn’t the same Raina of 2008-2012, when he was arguably the most important member of the CSK side along with Dhoni.
That being said, Raina never fails to perform in the IPL, which is why you can see why CSK would want the left hander back in their fold.
CSK are still undecided over retaining a third player, as there are a host of players that could be brought back into the CSK team.
Jadeja and Bravo are the two biggest candidates, and we hear that CSK might not retain either of them but use the RTM cards for the two all-rounders.
