"Childhood Hero" Roger Federer Inspires Hugely Popular K-Pop Idol To Take Up Tennis

Roger Federer may have retired from the sport of tennis but he continues to inspire and encourage his fans to pick up a racket and hit some balls. His aura and awe-inspiring talent and personality was never going to be restricted to just the world of tennis or even sports. Now who would have thought that Roger would be a childhood hero to a Korean pop singer? But that is exactly the case with Blackpink’s Rosé.

Attending the Paris Fashion Week in, well, Paris, Federer interacted with quite a few celebrities. Rosé was one such starstruck celebrity who went on to post her photos on Instagram with the former athlete, labelling him her “childhood hero”. And the interaction certainly seems to have left an impact with the singer who has now taken to a tennis court and we must say she isn’t half bad.

Roger Federer inspires ballerina Rosé

Stepping onto a tennis court, Rosé hit some balls in what looks like a beginner’s drill. While she certainly has a long way to go yet (it was her first practice session, duh), her form certainly shows a lot of potential, which does not come as a surprise given her aptitude at dancing. She has the grace of her idol, now she just needs to match Federer’s skill.

The Blackpink idol took to Instagram to post a couple of videos of her first practice session, captioning the first video,

“Beginning of my lesson (learnt that I was doing weird ballerina at the end of my swings haha.”

And she sure seems serious about picking up the sport. In her second video, she is hitting the ball much better and seems to have listened to her coach’s advice on how to “fix” her ballerina.

Roger Federer is probably the most naturally gifted tennis player the sport has ever seen. Add to that his unmatched grace and aggression and you have a player who shattered all records that came before him. All this while making it look like child’s play on the court.

Federer plied his trade in such a seemingly effortless manner that nobody would blame you for thinking surely I can do it too. Alas, it takes only a few minutes on a tennis court to dash all such delusions and bring you right back to reality. But trying to emulate the former world number 1 is one of the most fun things you can do and Rosé evidently had fun giving it a shot.
