Christian Eriksen on radar as Barcelona eye Iniesta’s replacement
Andres Iniesta has left the club and FC Barcelona are looking for options to replace the Spanish midfielder.
The void left by Spanish midfielder is huge, both in terms of football and presence of experience in the dressing room. And while it is nearly impossible to replace a player of calibre like Iniesta, Barca boss Ernesto Valverde attempts to soften the blow of Iniesta leaving the club.
FC Barcelona is increasingly linked with Antoine Griezmann. Various reports from Spanish media suggest that the Frenchman can join Barcelona for a transfer fee of 100m. The La Liga champions intend to boost their attacking options, and signing of Griezmann would be a huge step towards the same.
However, a recent report from Spanish website Sport suggests that Barcelona are also monitoring Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur. According to the report, Eriksen is said to be on the radar for the Catalan side, as a potential replacement for Andres Iniesta.

The 26-year old midfielder enjoyed a good season with Tottenham on an individual level. Eriksen scored 13 goals, while assisting 14 in 49 games for Tottenham this season. A move to Barcelona would definitely be considerable for Eriksen, as the frustration at not winning trophies with the North London club could be a contributing factor.
According to Sport, Eriksen could play behind the attacking trio of Coutinho, Messi and Suarez next season for Barcelona. Barcelona could face issues with starting XI if Griezmann joins the Catalan side. Griezmann could potentially replace players like Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele in the side. It would become increasingly difficult for Valverde to fit-in all the star players in the first team at Barcelona.
Christian Eriksen has established himself as a pivotal figure in the Tottenham side under Mauricio Pochettino.
