Harry Maguire takes huge jibe at Liverpool following Man Utd move

Harry Maguire has taken a huge jibe at Liverpool after his world-record move to Manchester United.

Harry Maguire completed his move from Leicester City to Manchester United for a world-record £80 million. The English International takes jersey number five, worn by his idol Rio Ferdinand before Marcos Rojo took in 2015.

He becomes the expensive defender in the history of the game after Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk, against him he scored a goal for Leicester in January 2019. The Reds lead through their prolific forward Sadio Mane, but the new Man United signing Maguire equalised the score moments before the half-time to equalize the score.

There were no alterations in the scoreboard until the final whistle and the game ended 1-1. Simultaneously, Jurgen Klopp’s side lost the league title by a point to Manchester City.

Seeing this as an opportunity, the Red Devils faithful took pleasure with their new signing putting temporary full-stops to their rivals from lifting the Premier League title. Once the news broke about the English International agreeing a deal with United, fans in full-fledge were posting to frustrate the reigning European Champions which could have been a double if not of Maguire’s goal.

Upon signing for Manchester United, Harry Maguire posted a photo thanking Leicester City for their assistance over the last two seasons. That photo was him celebrating after netting the equalizer against Liverpool at Anfield, earlier this year.

Of course, the fans were quick to notice that photo.

Upon signing for the club, Harry Maguire said: “I am delighted to have signed for this great club. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Leicester and would like to thank everyone at the club, and the fans, for their fantastic support over the past two seasons. However, when Manchester United come knocking on your door, it is an incredible opportunity.

“From my conversations with the manager, I am excited about the vision and plans he has for the team. It’s clear to see that Ole is building a team to win trophies. I am now looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and getting the season started.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “Harry is one of the best centre-backs in the game today and I am delighted we have secured his signature. He is a great reader of the game and has a strong presence on the pitch, with the ability to remain calm under pressure – coupled with his composure on the ball and a huge presence in both boxes – I can see he will fit well into this group both on and off the pitch.

“He has a great personality and is a fantastic addition to the club.

“I would like to welcome Harry to Manchester United and we are looking forward to working with him as we prepare for the new season.”
