COL-Y vs DAM-Y Dream11 Team: Sri Lanka Provincial U19 One Day Tournament comes to an end today as stalwarts Colombo U19 look to wrap up a stellar tournament for themselves with a win in the summit clash
The Sri Lanka Provincial Under 19 One Day Tournament comes to a culmination today with two of the top placed sides after the league stage encounters taking on each other for a shot at the title. League toppers Colombo U19 will be facing off against Dambulla U19 with Colombo heading into the clash as the clear favourites for this one after having completely dominated the league stage matches.
For Colombo, the Provincial Tournament has always brought compelling success for the side to see them write their name in the echelons of Sri Lanka’s domestic cricket arena. Be it their main side or the U19 team, both the sides representing Colombo in the four team tournament made it to the summit clash after going on dauntless sprees.
And the Colombo U19 side went on a similar run in the 2019 edition of the tournament, winning all their three matches against Dambulla, Galle and Kandy, one which included a stunning 147 run win over today’s opponents. And the side will be looking to put in the same displays which have made the complete, well-rounded unit that they are as they set out to win the trophy.
Elsewhere for Dambulla, the progression to today’s final has been a jittery one, one where they scraped through two wins to make it this far. Defeating Kandy and Galle by 7 and 2 runs respectively, Dambulla managed to hang onto the barest of straws, just about emerging as winners in the skirmish to preserve and find themselves playing today’s prestigious.
While Colombo are being touted as clear winners in this encounter, the nature of a match of this stature accords a level field to both the sides. And if the third placed match between Galle and Kandy was anything to go by, this one which be another humdinger of an encounter, one which is closely contested.
However, no matter how much we try to give Dambulla a chance in this one, Colombo’s effervescent side and depth in the line-up is too hard to ignore. The last time these met, Colombo U19 went onto score 283 before stalling Dambulla’s innings for just 136 to put in a humongous win.
And they should put in the same performance today as well. Playing on a surface which is heavily inclined towards the batsmen, Colombo are going to love these conditions owing to their long batting line-up which should see them win the trophy.
Wicket-Keeper for COL-Y vs DAM-Y Dream11
Colombo’s opener Kamil Mishra has been selected by us for this match. He’s the best pick out of the two available options and is set to put on a platform for his side around which the ensuing batsmen will revolve around to hammer down a hefty total for the side.
Batsmen for COL-Y vs DAM-Y Dream11
Our 4 man batting-order is justified owing to the pristine batting conditions which are going to be prevalent today. This surface is a delight for batsmen, as flat and devoid of grass as they get, one where the ball will come onto the bat extremely nicely.
This sees us go ahead with a formidable partnership from Colombo in the form of opener Johanne de Silva and lower middle-order batsman Ahan Wickramsinghe. The two are the mainstays of this batting line-up with Ahan being someone who can switch his game as per the circumstances of the game.
Elsewhere from Dambulla we have gone ahead with the two players as well in the form of Dineth Jayakody and Ravindu Rasantha. Despite the side being curtailed for 136 when these two last met, this duo waged a lone battle to help get their side past the 100 run mark with the 34 and 21 run innings respectively.
All-Rounders for COL-Y vs DAM-Y Dream11
A mainstay of his side with both the bat and ball, Sudeera Weerantne is without a doubt one of the finest players Dambulla have at their disposal. If the side are to punch above their weight today, he’s going to be pivotal to the team’s cause and we see him emerging as the highest points getter from the outfit.
From Colombo it’s another two man pick for us with both Thashika Nirmal and Chamindu Wijesinghe being chosen by us for this one.
Bowling Order for COL-Y vs DAM-Y Dream11
His 4-20 against Dambulla the last time around see frontline pacer, Praveen Nimesh de Silva be an immediate pick for us in this encounter. He’s going to be partnered by Dilmin Rathnayake to form a deadly partnership which is bound to dwindle Dambulla today.
From Colombo its Dilmin Rathnayake who becomes the only player we are getting in to complete our Dream 11 side.
Captain And Vice-Captain
Ahan has been chosen as our captain for this match while Nirmal is chosen as our vice-captain.
