Is Rohit Sharma playing today's 2nd T20I between India and England in Ahmedabad?

Is Rohit Sharma playing today’s match: The Indian white-ball vice-captain had missed the first T20I at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

During the second T20I of the ongoing England’s tour of India in Ahmedabad, India captain Virat Kohli has won the toss and chose to field as the hosts look to draw level in the series.

“We are going to bowl first. Looks like the track was a bit up and down with no dew last game. So, we feel better to bowl first and restrict. We are a side that is looking to get away from templates,” Kohli told Star Sports at the toss.

Coming on the back of a victory, England captain Eoin Morgan hoped to post a challenging total on the board as his bowlers will have to bowl under dew at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

“Another really good wicket in store, doesn’t look high scoring but hopefully we can put up a good enough score to challenge them. Mark Wood hasn’t pulled up well, Tom Curran takes his place,” Morgan told Star Sports about their solitary change for this match.

As far as the changes for India are concerned, they have once again surprised one and all by handing debuts to the likes of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav. It is worth mentioning that Kishan will open the batting alongside batsman Lokesh Rahul. The same means that India have benched opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan for this match.

“[Shikhar] Dhawan is missing this game. Axar [Patel] is not part as well. Suryakumar [Yadav] and Ishan Kishan are making their debuts,” Kohli added.

In what are the only two changes for the home teams, they have once again benched white-ball vice-captain Rohit Sharma. The same has been done to give opportunities to fringe players such as Kishan and Yadav.
