Former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist on of the biggest names in the cricketing world. Famous for his aggressive style, he was the 1st player to hit 100 sixes in test cricket. Adam Gilchrist was fined 40% of his match fees for showing dissent

Australia and South Africa were playing against each other on 15 January, 2006, when Adam Gilchrist was reported for his actions in Brisbane. During the fielding of the Australian side, Gilchrist asked Aleem Dar to refer to the third umpire for the dismissal of South Africa’s Boeta Dippenaa.

During the replays, it was proved that Boeta Dippenaa’s leg was in the air when Andrew Symonds’ throw smashed the stumps. The behavior of Gilchrist was termed bad and he breached 1.3 of the ICC Code. Jeff Crowe, the match referee confirmed that Gilchrist understood the decision as well.

“Adam immediately pleaded guilty to the charge, understanding the need to end this sort of action on the field during play,” Crowe said.

The maximum punishment for this kind of offence is 50%, but Crowe decided to cut 40% of Gilchrist’s match fee. On-field umpires Simon Taufel & Aleem Dar and TV umpire Daryl Harper filed the official complaint to Jeff Crowe.
