Adam Zampa: The Australian spinner ended up becoming the most expensive Australian bowler at the Ageas Bowl today.

During the first T20I of the ongoing Australia’s tour of England in Southampton, England batsman Dawid Malan continued his golden run in the format on the back of his seventh half-century at the highest level.

Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the fifth over, Malan got off the mark with a boundary against Australia seamer Kane Richardson. With wickets falling at regular intervals from the other end, Malan took the onus upon himself to steer the hosts to a respectable total.

While Malan hitting Australian speedster Mitchell Starc for an elegant and effortless six was arguably the shot of the match, the southpaw further hit two more delightful shots Australia spinner Adam Zampa in the 18th over.

Looking to make the most out of Australia captain Aaron Finch’s unusual decision of calling Zampa in to bowl the 18th over, Malan hit a couple of sixes to accumulate 22 runs from the over.

It was on the penultimate delivery of the over that Malan aimed to make some room outside the off-stump. With Zampa bowling a googly, Malan confidently hit the leg-spinner for the second six of the over. With Zampa also bowling five wides in the over, it played a vital role in England scored 162/7 in 20 overs.

Before getting out in the next over, Malan scored 66 (43) with the help of five fours and three sixes to receive applauds for a fantastic knock. With bowling figures of 3-0-13-2, Richardson was the pick of the Australian bowlers. Zampa, on the other hand, was the most expensive of them all by conceding 47 runs in four overs.
