The last time these two sides met (previous Friday) in the ongoing season, it turned out to be an evening to forget for the Thunder, as they were bowled out with mere 15 runs on the scoreboard, having managed to play out only 5.5 Overs, while chasing a relatively modest target of 140 runs.
It not only turned out to be the lowest-ever score in a senior men’s T20 fixture ever, but also the shortest innings (by balls bowled) in the format.
A day later, however, they did manage to shrug-off the embarrassing show in Sydney by posting a competitive total of 174/6 against the Melbourne Renegades, but yet again found themselves on the wrong side of the result.
The Strikers, on the other hand, are handsomely sitting at the top of the points table, with back-to-back massive wins (by 51 and 124 runs) in their two opening matches of the season.
It will be interesting to see how the Thunder batters approach with the bat at their home ground this time around, before the likes of Henry Thornton and Wes Agar.
Adelaide Oval pitch report today BBL match
The Adelaide Strikers posted a challenging total of 184/6 during the second match of BBL 2022-23 at the Adelaide Oval last Wednesday.
Regarded as one of the best batting surfaces in the whole of Australia, skipper Peter Siddle opted to bat first during the aforementioned match due to this very reason.
The average score of 156.2 across the 12 T20 matches this year at the Adelaide Oval, might not paint the ideal picture one would expect on a supposedly batting paradise, but the batters will enjoy their time in the middle at this venue today with the fresh surface likely to stay true to its bounce and facilitate stroke play.
Expect the Strikers to come up with a challenging score today before the Thunder bowlers in case they win the Toss.
