BBL 12 ladder standings: Big Bash 2022 23 points table
Previous season runners-up Sydney Sixers are back at the top of the points table with a one-sided victory over the in-form Sydney Thunder by 7 wickets, during the 34th match of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23.
Half-centuries off the bats of skipper Moises Henriques (53* off 38) and Jordan Silk (59* off 42), and a stellar spell of bowling from Sean Abbott (4-0-9-3) paved way for Sixers’ sixth win this season so far after 10 matches.
The Thunder, on the other hand, were handed their first loss after four matches, with their batters letting time down this time around.
They did however, make lives difficult for the Sixers by getting rid of their top-3 batters at the score of 12. But, the the aforementioned matured innings from the duo of Silk and Henriques, made sure they stayed on the fourth spot in the table with 5 wins out of 9 matches so far.
BBL 12 ladder standings
Defending BBL champions Perth Scorchers have started from where they were the previous season, having notched-up 6 wins out of the 8 they have played so far.
They presently stand at the second spot in the points table (with 12 points), but have also played a couple of matches less than the table toppers Sixers (13 points).
The Melbourne Stars, with mere 2 wins out of 8 matches they have played so far, are currently reeling at the bottom of the table (with 4 points), and will be desperate for a massive turnaround.
For those unaware, top-5 teams will make it through to the knockout stage, after playing a total of 14 matches each. The fourth and fifth placed sides will play the Eliminator, the winner of which will play the third placed side in the table for another knockout contest.
The winner of this knock-out contest will face the loser of the Qualifier – played by the top-2 teams in the points table.
