Bengaluru has followed Kolkata to become the second city in as many days to affect outdoor practice on the eve of an Indian Premier League 2023 match. Scheduled to host a match after three and a half weeks, M Chinnaswamy Stadium was a witness to a substantial amount of rainfall on Saturday.

While weather hadn’t allowed any sort of practice at the Eden Gardens yesterday, players had come out at the Chinnaswamy Stadium to make the most of conditions after rain stopped late in the evening.

Set to be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans, the last league match of the same will also be last fixture for this particular venue. Hence, the last thing which all the stakeholders would be wanting is for rain to abandon or even affect the contest in any way.

Having said that, there are high chances of a delayed start to the match taking into consideration the rain prediction in the city tomorrow. Going by dependable weather portal AccuWeather, rain is quite likely to make its presence felt in this South Indian city from the afternoon itself.

Rain probability is expected to be in vicinity of 50% for the first time around 4 PM (local time) on Sunday. The number is further anticipated to increase to 65% at the time of the toss, i.e., 07:00 PM. Furthermore, it is predicted to remain the same till 09:00 PM before experiencing a dip.

In such a situation, both the toss and the start time of the match could be postponed to make IPL 2023 Match 70 as the sixth match of the season to bear the brunt of weather. With the rain probability reducing to less than 30% around midnight, fans could be in for a late night finish to the league phase of the 16th season of the IPL.
