Bumrah ruled out: Will Jasprit Bumrah play the 4th Test vs Australia in Brisbane?

Will Jasprit Bumrah play the 4th Test: The Indian fast bowler has reportedly become the visiting team’s latest injury scare in Australia.

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, a first-choice name in the bowling division across formats, has reportedly become India’s latest member to suffer an injury during the ongoing tour of Australia.

Bumrah, who bowled close to 47 overs in the recently concluded third Test in Sydney, is said to have suffered an abdominal strain. It is worth mentioning that Bumrah had walked off the Sydney Cricket Ground for the same reason in the second innings.

While nothing official has been said regarding Bumrah as of now, but there have been reports suggesting the prospect of him missing the fourth Test against Australia in Brisbane.

Will Jasprit Bumrah play the 4th Test vs Australia in Brisbane?

The ongoing tour of Australia has already seen India missing Virat Kohli (paternity leave), Rohit Sharma (hamstring), Ishant Sharma (side strain), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (thigh muscle), Mohammed Shami (wrist fracture), Umesh Yadav (calf), Lokesh Rahul (wrist), Rishabh Pant (elbow), Ravindra Jadeja (finger dislocation) for some part or the whole tour.

In addition to the aforementioned names, the fitness status of batsman Hanuma Vihari (hamstring) and bowler Ravichandran Ashwin (back injury) are also awaited.

According to a BCCI source’s interaction with PTI, Bumrah is all but likely to miss the Gabba Test to be in contention for the forthcoming five-match Test series against England beginning from February 5.

“Jasprit Bumrah suffered an abdominal strain while fielding in Sydney. He is going to sit out of the Brisbane Test but is expected to be available against England,” a BCCI source told PTI.

If Bumrah does miss the fourth Test, it could result in a Test comeback for Shardul Thakur after more than two years or a Test debut for T. Natarajan on what has already been an impressive tour for him.
