There was a time when West Indies used to rule world cricket and now their participation in the biggest event is under dark clouds. They started the tournament with a couple of victories against the USA and Nepal. The fact that both of these teams are out of the tournament, West Indies won’t get any benefit going ahead.
The match against the Netherlands was very important for the Caribbean nation. It was one of the best ODI games ever played where West Indies lost in the super over. Let’s have a look at how they can still qualify for the mega tournament.
An encounter to remember!

Can West Indies Qualify For ICC World Cup 2023?
Despite a couple of defeats in their last two matches, they have qualified for the super-six stages. The format of the tournament is that the team will carry the points from their respective matches against the other teams progressing from their group. From Group-A, Zimbabwe will carry four points, the Netherlands will carry two points and West Indies will have zero points.
Only the top two teams from the super-six stage will qualify for the World Cup. West Indies will have to beat Sri Lanka, Oman and Scotland. They will also need major help from other teams as well. Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will have to lose at least two matches and the Netherlands will have to lose at least one match.
West Indies still have theoretical chances of qualifying. However, practically speaking, it is almost impossible for them and will need a miracle to play in the tournament later this year in India.
ICC World Cup 2023 Qualfied Teams
Only ten teams will take part in ICC World Cup 2023. India qualified as the hosts, whereas Pakistan, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, England, Afghanistan and Bangladesh also got direct qualification. The rest two teams will be decided after the ongoing qualifers in Zimbabwe.
