Chris Gayle celebration video: 41-year old Gayle pulls off cartwheel celebration after dismissing Reeza Hendricks on 1st ball in Grenada T20I

Chris Gayle celebration: The veteran West Indian batsman picked a wicket on the first ball he bowlers in international cricket after two years.

During the fourth T20I of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of West Indies in St George’s, veteran West Indies batsman Chris Gayle was among the wickets after he was surprisingly asked to share the new ball with fast bowler Fidel Edwards.

Bowling in international cricket for the first time in two years, Gayle took a wicket with his first ball as some assistance from wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran saw him dismissing South Africa opening batsman Reeza Hendricks (2).

Known for his wholehearted and eye-catching celebrations, 41-year old Gayle didn’t shy away from putting on display last night as he successfully pulled off doing a cartwheel at the National Cricket Stadium. The Universe Boss later revealed that his teammates had recommended him to emulate spinner Kevin Sinclair’s celebration.

Chasing a 168-run target, South Africa could only manage 146/9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs despite wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock scoring 60 (43) with the help of six fours and two sixes.

Much like Gayle, another veteran in Dwayne Bravo was the pick of the West Indian bowlers with bowling figures of 4-0-19-4.

Earlier, it was an unbeaten 66-run partnership between West Indies captain Kieron Pollard (51 not out) and all-rounder Fabian Allen (19 not out) which propelled them to 167/6 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first by visiting captain Temba Bavuma. Taking on Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi in the last two overs, the pair scored as many as 43 runs to post a competitive total.
