Deepak Chahar wickets in IPL 2021: How many wickets has D Chahar picked in IPL 2021?

Deepak Chahar wickets: The new-ball bowler from Chennai Super Kings has been among the wickets in Indian Premier League 2021.

During the 15th match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai, Chennai Super Kings seamer Deepak Chahar once again picked a flurry of wickets with the new ball to dent the opposition.

It was in the first over of the inning that Chahar dismissed Knight Riders opening batsman Shubman Gill (0) after the right-hand batsman slashed a short delivery straight to Lungi Ngidi at third man.

On the penultimate delivery of his second over, Chahar sent back Nitish Rana (9) as the southpaw’s attempt of playing an aerial flick resulted in him skying the ball high which was eventually caught by Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Chasing a 221-run target, Kolkata’s batsmen continued to take risks but only to get out to Chahar. In his third over, the likes of KKR captain Eoin Morgan (7) and all-rounder Sunil Narine (4) also perished against Chahar as both of them were looking to match up with the required run rate.

With Chahar being among the wickets, Dhoni persisted with him after the powerplay as well and rightly so. While Chahar did concede 13 runs in his last over, bowling figures of 4-0-29-4 were still enough to put the opposition on the back foot especially in the first few overs.

In four IPL 2021 matches, Chahar’s eight wickets have come at an average of 13.75, an economy rate of 7.33 and a strike rate of 11.2. Currently the third-highest wicket-taker in the tournament, Chahar isn’t very far from the likes of Avesh Khan (8) and Harshal Patel (9).
