Former India captain MS Dhoni, who skippered Chennai Super Kings to their fifth Indian Premier League title a few months ago, has explicitly refused to accept fellow teammate and bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar as one of his better friends.

While Dhoni was the center of attraction and talking point during the entirety of IPL 2023, his camaraderie with Chahar was there to be seen and noted by the fans as well. Despite the huge age-gap between the two, Chahar, much like a younger brother, would seem to tease his skipper every now and then, with the legendary player giving it back to him in his own inimitable style.
Ahead of one of league matches of the recently concluded season, Dhoni was even hilariously spotted threatening him to hand a good smack across his face. During a recent event, Dhoni went a notch higher to publicly address his relationship with Chahar. However, along expected lines, such a complex relationship could not have been fittingly explained without pulling his leg.
MS Dhoni Pulls Deepak Chahar’s Leg
During one of the recent promotional events of ‘Lets Get Married‘, a Tamil film produced by his production company Dhoni Entertainment, Dhoni exclaimed how he is confused as to whether he should address Chahar as his dear friend or not.
In an attempt to throw more light on the same, Dhoni went on to compare Chahar to a drug – who is missed when not present in the vicinity, and the existence repented when actually found around. This was not it. Dhoni further went on to mention that Chahar is indeed maturing, and he would have attained the maturity level of Ziva (Dhoni’s daughter) only by the time he would turn 50.
“But the good thing is that he is maturing. By the time he’s 50, he’ll be as mature as Ziva is now! But, everyone takes their own speed and time, and they say wine gets better with age. So he is like fine wine. It’s just that in my lifetime, I’ll never be able to taste it. So, by the time he matures, I’d be done and dusted.”
When A Fed Up MS Dhoni Denied Deepak Chahar An Autograph
Perhaps the most hilarious conversation between the two took place on the grand finale day of IPL 2023 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. A few minutes after CSK emerged to be the champions, Dhoni was seen vehemently denying Chahar an autograph perhaps due to the catches he had dropped while fielding.
The hilarious moment was caught on camera, where Dhoni was seen explaining BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla the reason for him losing cool with the 30-year-old.
