India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant has been out of action for over six months now after an unfortunate car crash. Since then, Pant’s recovery is at the top of every Indian cricket fan’s mind. Pant is also aware that people want him to be fit as soon as possible and that’s why he tries to provide them with the the status of his health from time to time.

Most recently, Pant uploaded a before-and-after video of him climbing stairs across social media handles. Needless to say, the left-handed batter has been doing some great progress as far as recovery is concerned.
Pant is one of those rare players who have the knack of winning games in difficult situations, especially in the red-ball format. The fact that the Indian team has not been able to replace Pant in Test cricket speaks highly of his offerings.
How Is Rishabh Pant Now?
In the first part of the latest video uploaded by Pant he can be seen struggling to climb the stairs and seems to be facing substantial discomfort. However, he was easily climbing the stairs in the second part of the video. Earlier, he had posted a video where he confirmed that he is now able to walk without the help of crutches. In one of his stories, he can be seen doing lunges with the help of a wooden stick.

Previously, it was said that the 25-year old player will need yet another surgery on his knee. However, a recent report in Times of India has claimed that he will not require another operation. He is recovering well in the National Cricket Academy. Overall, the doctors are very happy with his improvement.
“There was much anxiety over another surgery. He was monitored every fortnight. Fortunately, his progress has been better than expected. This is a big boost for him. It could mean his comeback can happen a lot earlier than what was first expected,” a BCCI source told TOI.
When Will Rishabh Pant Return?
This question is very difficult to answer right now, but the way Pant is progressing, he can make his comeback earlier than originally expected. However, no particular date can be assigned regarding his potential return to the cricket field.
It is difficult to talk about his participation in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as well. Even former Indian batter Aakash Chopra has said that Pant will take some time before returning to action.
Pant is duly missed by both team India and his Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capitals. Without Pant, DC had a torrid run in IPL 2023. Talking about the international stage, be it Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 or the recently concluded ICC World Test Championship final, Pant could’ve made a big difference against one of his favourite opponents in Australia.
