"Incomparably amazing": Ian Bishop admires AB de Villiers for scoring whirlwind half-century vs KKR in IPL 2021

Ian Bishop admires AB de Villiers: The former West Indian fast bowler appeared to be in awe of the former South African captain.

During the 10th match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai, Royal Challengers Bangalore wicket-keeper batsman AB de Villiers powered his team to 204/4 on the back of his 39th IPL half-century.

Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 12th over, de Villiers played an archetype finishing knock which saw him scoring 76* (34) with the help of nine fours and three sixes.

After sharing a 53-run partnership for the fourth wicket alongside all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (78), de Villiers took the onus upon himself in the business end of the innings.

Having shown first signs of aggression by scoring consecutive boundaries off Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Varun Chakravarthy in the 15th over, de Villiers followed a similar pattern against Prasidh Krishna in the next over.

With Kolkata captain Eoin Morgan introducing all-rounder Andre Russell into the attack in the 18th over as he has been doing in this season, the move didn’t augur well as de Villiers smashed five fours and three sixes as Russell leaked 38 runs in just two overs.

de Villiers, 37, scored a whirlwind 68th T20 half-century to entice calls of an international comeback especially with a couple of ICC T20 World Cups looming. The authoritative manner in which the right-hand batsman was finding boundaries should see him playing the upcoming ICC events for South Africa.
