Shubman Gill has managed to hog the limelight in the ongoing first ODI of the three match series, between India and New Zealand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Continuing with his brilliant run in ODIs, Gill was at his absolute best today as he notched up his maiden double century (208 off 149) in the format, and thereby becoming only the fifth Indian batter to reach the landmark.
Moreover, the knock which comprised of 19 Fours and 9 Sixes, not only helped him become the youngest men’s batter to score an ODI double ton, but also made sure he surpassed Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan to become the fastest Indian to score 1,000 ODI runs.
The 23-year-old’s knock single-handedly helped India post a massive total of 349/8 on the board, which is also their fourth successive score in excess of 300 in the format.
With India highly likely to clinch the first ODI with New Zealand already six wickets down (at the time of writing), the action for the next ODI will move to Raipur, with the final match to take place at Indore on January 21 and 24 respectively.
